5th Grade Supply List

Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome to 5th grade!  In order to help you with a smooth transition back to school in September, we are sending you a list of school supplies required by the 5th-grade teams. You are encouraged to reuse any of the following items that you have at home or from previous years.

General Supplies: 

• Smead 12 Pocket Poly Project Organizer 

• 1x - Pack of pencils (to be replenished as needed throughout the year)

• Pencil sharpener with shaving case

• 1x - Large pencil eraser 

• 3x - colored pens (blue or red) (to be replenished as needed throughout the year)

• 3x - Highlighters (multi-color) (to be replenished as needed throughout the year)

• Pencil case

• Colored pencils

• 3” x 3” post-its

• Wired Headphones - All MS devices will have USB-C. Anything like this will work fine. (There are a variety of price points.)

Science:

• 1x - Wide ruled one subject notebook (approximately 70 sheets)

• 1x - Roll of paper towels

English:

•  2x - Wide ruled composition notebooks

World Language:

• 1x - 3 ring, 1-inch binder (Spanish & Latin)

• 5x - Dividers (Spanish & Latin)

• 1x - Loose leaf paper (Spanish & Latin)

• 1x - Composition notebook, wide-ruled, 100 pages (Spanish)

• 1x - Composition notebook, wide-ruled, 100 pages (French)

6th Grade Supply List

Welcome to 6th grade!  In order to help you with a smooth transition back to school in September, we are sending you a list of school supplies required by the 6th-grade team. You are encouraged to reuse any of the following items that you have at home or from previous years.

General Supplies:

• 1x - Large 3-hole pencil case that clips into a binder           

• Wide-ruled loose leaf paper in each binder                  

• Highlighters (any color)

• Pens & Pencils (to be replenished throughout the year)

• Pencil erasers (eraser tops)

• 1x - Small pencil sharpener

• 1x - Box of 12 colored pencils

• 40x - Sheet Protectors

• 20x - Subject Dividers

• 1x - Two-pocket heavy duty plastic HW folder       

• 1x - Pack Post-It notes (non-accordion)

• 1x - Pack of chisel tip dry erase markers

• Wired Headphones - All MS devices will have USB-C. Anything like this will work fine. (There are a variety of price points.)

Science:

• 1x - 1-inch green binder

• 1x - roll of paper towels

Math:

• Loose-leaf paper (enough for each academic, world language and encore class)

• Index Cards – 4” x 6”

• Scotch Tape

• 3 packs - Post-it notes 3” x 3” 

• Folder for homework (Some students prefer an accordion folder for this purpose)

• Wired Headphones - Grades 7 & 8 have two choices

  • All MS devices will have USB-C: Anything like this will work fine. (There are a variety of price points.)

  • 7 & 8th Macbooks also have the headphone jack and can use something like this instead

*Calculator Information:

Students need access to their own calculator. A scientific calculator will be used for both the Math State Test and math class, in addition to later High School courses. You may use a scientific calculator that you already own from 6th grade. If you are purchasing a new calculator, we recommend the following:

This is available in stores as well as online. 
Be sure to label your calculator with your name with permanent marker
Students should also make sure that their home computer & printer are ready to go.

8th Grade Supply List

*Calculator Information

We recommend that students have their own calculator; however, if a student does not purchase their own calculator, they will have the opportunity to borrow one from the school for the school year.

 

Scientific Calculator

Can be used for both the Math State Test and science class daily.  

You may use a scientific calculator that you already own from 6th or 7th grade. 

If you are purchasing a new calculator, we recommend the following calculator:

Texas Instruments Scientific Calculator model # TI-30X IIS

(or any scientific calculator with 2-line display)

 

Graphing Calculator

Needed for both Algebra 8 and Enriched Algebra and later High School courses.

If you purchase a graphing calculator, we recommend:

Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus CE Graphing Calculator

(which is in color and has a rechargeable battery)

 

These calculators are available in stores as well as online.  

Be sure to label your calculators with your name in permanent ink.

Students should also make sure that their home computer & printer are ready to go.

Band:

General Supplies:

• Have instrument (rented or purchased) before the first day of school with name and “7B” on case

• Folding wire music stand for at-home practice

Supplies by Instrument:

• Percussion:

  • Rent or purchase glockenspiel (bell kit) and a practice pad or snare drums for at-home practice

  • Drum sticks and hard mallets (with your name on them) for school use

• Clarinet and Saxophone

  • 1x Box of ten reeds (strength 1.5 or 2)

• Trumpet

  • 1x valve oil

• Trombone

  • 1x slide lubricant, not slide grease (Yamaha or equivalent);  students may want to consider a lightweight plastic “p-bone”

 

Orchestra:

General Supplies:

• Have instrument (rented or purchased) before the first day of school with name and “7B” on case

• Music Stand for practice at home

• Luggage Tag so instruments can be labeled by name

• (Optional) Snark Tuner used to help with tuning instruments

• (Optional) Lesson Book - Orchestra Expressions Book 1 - make sure to specify instrument

Supplies by Instrument:

• Violin/Viola 

  • Shoulder Rest Notes: Some violin/viola cases do not have space to keep the shoulder rest inside.  If your child’s instrument case does not fit their shoulder rest, you may purchase a shoulder rest pouch that can be attached to the violin/viola case.

Sizing Information: String instruments are assigned depending on the size of the player. If your child is in school, I am happy to measure them as well.
